M. Kee Chong LI KWONG WING a aussi saisi l’occasion pour présenter le nouveau Groupe CEO de la SBM Holdings Ltd, M. Andrew Bainbridge. Ce dernier a partagé les mots suivants: « I have over 20 years of experience working in some 20 countries across 3 continents and I can confidently say that I have not seen such a wonderful initiative to support those in need sustained over time. I have seen a lot of PR and Marketing oriented CSR initiatives and i am very happy to observe that the CSR initiatives conducted by SBM Group are genuine and meant to add value to society ».
Yusrinah Emamally – Graduate in Engineering: « I was honoured to receive this scholarship and grateful for the opportunities it has provided me. It means a lot to us that you believe in our efforts to reach our higher educational goals. I had encountered some financial constraints and was not sure my University education would be possible. Back at that time, this scholarship scheme was 'the light at the end of the dark tunnel' and I kept working towards my goal. Today, I am standing in front of you as a proud graduate in Engineering and an independent working girl, developing my aptitudes in the meteorological field. All in all, your act of kindness made an incredible difference in my life as well as that of my parents. This laudable initiative helped and is helping many youngsters to reach their educational and career goals. The difference you have made means much more than I can say ».
Madhusha Bahadoor - Product Engineer at Compagnie Mauricienne de Textile Ltée and holder of a Bachelor with Honours in Chemical and Environmental Engineering from the University of Mauritius: « After finishing my Higher School Certificate with good scores, I chose Chemical and Environmental Engineering as my field of study. I applied for the course and with no surprise I got my letter of offer. It was only then I realised that my dream of becoming an Engineer appeared to be only a dream. I recall having sleepless nights while my friends were celebrating on social media, having got their letter of acceptance from universities. Then, I came across an advert stating that the SBM was volunteering to help needy students falling under certain criteria for the full sponsorship of a degree course. Without any hesitation, I made my application for this scholarship and it was accepted. The scholarship from the SBM catered for all my academic fees, and in addition I received a stipend. Today I am here to express my gratitude to the entire team of SBM for providing me this scholarship. This has helped me realising my dreams. Without this scholarship, I would have found myself burying my future aspirations. »
Phil Auriant – Fresh Graduate in Political Science from the University of Mauritius: « Poverty is a subject that we generally talk about when there are tragic events, as we have witnessed recently with the victims of the cyclone Berguita and this caught the attention of all Mauritians. Time goes by and we put it aside. So, I salute SBM Foundation for its sustained efforts and scholarship for the underprivileged, recognising the potential of all without any discrimination. This SBM initiative has allowed many bright students to pursue their studies with a certain financial and also moral serenity as only we, the underprivileged, know how frustrating it can be not to know how to pay tuition fees or to go to class without a penny in your pocket. »
Dr. Vageesh Mungur – Beneficiary of the first edition in 2010 and consulting at the Jawaharlal Nehru hospital at Rose-Belle: « I come from a modest family of 3 children, my father working in the sugar estate and my mother a housewife. Today my younger brother and I are both beneficiaries of the SBM Scholarship Scheme. We now have 2 doctors and 1 Engineer in the family and I am forever indebted to SBM for its support to achieve my dreams and that of other youngsters coming from modest families ».
